Katelyn’s Senior Portraits

Katelyn was a fantastic model for this shoot.

Originally we had planned to take shots with her Jeep, but because of scheduling conflicts we ended up conducting this shoot the day before the photo was due at her school and that meant not having the option to shoot where I’d originally intended.

I’m extremely proud of these photos because they really show her progression from a  teenage girl to a young adult and she looks fantastic in every shot.

Shannon’s family photos

They wanted something a little more dramatic and interesting for their family photos so I shot with a bright AC slave flash hanging from the top corner of the white backdrop and a  Pentax AF400FTZ mounted on my Canon 30d. In post processing I pushed the exposure level even further and increased the brightness in many of the shots to create the overly lit feeling in the shots.

I prefer to shoot photos that show the personality of the subject, rather than the simple, stiff, posed photo that many family shoots produce. I believe that these photos allow each person to show their personality while still maintaining a posed composition that makes sense for their family.
